Black Hat Seo

As the name explains much about itself, the Black hat SEO is the technique of improving the ranking of webpage in the result page of the target search engine, which are not according to the guidelines of search engine.

The Black hat techniques are not liked by the search engines, as they violate their rules and regulations, and if the search engine finds them guilty of the same, they can ban the web page temporarily or permanently from showing in the SERP. So, it is recommended to use the white hat techniques while doing optimization, which are according to the guidelines set by the search engine.

Sometimes competitors can also report your website to the search engines if you are using Black hat techniques, resulting into penalizing or banning your website.

Despite of a big risk of getting banned many SEO’s still use Black hat techniques in order to optimize the SERP rankings. A good SEO company will never use Black hat optimization technique.

The main purpose of SEO’s is to improve the ranking, but sometimes they fail to do so by using white hat SEO techniques for their clients as their competitor has build a large number of links, getting ahead of which it almost practically impossible for them, so in that case sometimes the SEO companies turn towards the wrong practice or using Black hat techniques, in that case what I would suggest is the client should clearly mention this thing in the agreement that they don’t want any black hat optimization for their website.

Some of the techniques which counts as Black hat practice of improving the SERP ranking are, tag of a page and when used incorrectly they can alert a search engine that a site is using spam techniques in an attempt to improve its ranking

Search engines may penalize sites, if they discover using black hat methods, either by reducing their ranking or eliminating them from listing in their search results temporarily or permanently. Such penalties can be applied either automatically by the search engines’ algorithm, or by a manual site review.

There is a famous example that happened in 2006; Google banned two big companies BMW Germany and Ricoh Germany for use of practices which were not according to their guidelines, but later both apologized and fixed their practice.
